Casa Rè is situated in the Oltrepo Pavese area, in the North of Italy and precisely in the south of Lombardy connecting the Italian regions Emilia Romagna in the east, Piemonte in the west and leading with its southern part directly to the Ligurian sea. It is the most portion of the Pavia province, which comprises the foothills of the Appenine mountains. Oltrepo Pavese has a dry and windy subcontinental mesothermal climate: hot in summer and cold in winter with a good thermic excursion in during the night in both months. The microclimatic differences from one hill to another and one vineyard to another provide a favourable conditions for a wide range of vines giving different types of high quality grapes.

The production of wine is the main activity of the Oltrepo Pavese region and is an age-old tradition. The wines produced here are entitled to be labelled “D.O.C. Denominazione di origine controllata”- wines of garanteed origin. This zone is one of the main producer of Pinot Nero with 30 square kilometres, equal to 3000 hectares dedicated to this grape.

THE HISTORY OF CASA RE’
Casa Rè, the king’s house, is situated in the heart of Oltrepo Pavese, precisely in Montecalvo Versiggia, near Santa Maria della Versa, well- known for its wines and also for sparkling wines.
Casa Rè, perhaps the name is due to the particularly sunny exposure of its vineyards, was born in 1929, since that time the farmers worked with proper care this land and the vineyards produced fine grapes bound to become Quality Wines, like today. Since 1981, Casa Rè, , is managed by Casati’s family, Eugenio e Linda, that put their efforts for the quality. Casa Rè has an extension of 13 hectares, of land which give about 1500 quintals of grapes all DOC. The main feature of Casa Rè is to make little production to exalt quality. In this way the grapes are reduced on the vines, allowing a good maturation.

Thanks to the precious co-operation of Donato Lanati, one of the most important and well-known wine – maker in the world, the company reaches the top, producing fine and structured wines.
His laboratory ,Enosis, situated in the near Piemonte, is based on the new and avant-gardes technologies and a constant monitoring of the processes, that allow to exalt in the grapes the maximum expression of aromas and perfumes. All these cares start first of all in the vineyards with a meticulous care of the grapes and with a natural manuring with no chemical substances; then into the cellar with new methods and in a careful bottling.
